The Public Trustee Act 1978-1981, Part VIII Unclaimed Property, allows for a general dormancy period of six years. On February 14th each year, all dormant account information is listed on an Unclaimed Moneys Register.

Starting on the 15th of February and for a period of 7 years thereafter, the register is open for public inspection at company headquarters for payment of $1.

Names are advertised in the Government Gazette during month of February for all amounts over $50. All funds that have not been claimed within one year after publication are paid to the public trustee (less the cost of advertising).
